Founded in 2011 by two women with business media backgrounds, MJBiz’s goal was to bring the newly emerging legal cannabis industry the practical information and professional networking it needed to bloom into the $100 billion industry it is today.
At first the going was tough because cannabis was seen as too alternative for serious business. Our only competitor folded. Our first MJBizCon had just barely over 400 attendees. Then, in 2012 Colorado and Washington State voted to legalized recreational sales, and the industry rapidly developed.
By 2016, we were listed in the Inc 500 as one of the fastest growing, privately-held companies in America. By 2019, nearly 35,000 paying attendees networked with over 1,200 exhibitors at MJBizCon.
In 2021, we are one of the most anticipated trade shows of the immediate post-pandemic era and our readership topped six million as entrepreneurs and business executives across the US and Canada consider getting into the booming cannabis industry.

Cassandra co-founded MJBiz in 2011 and its portfolio of content resources for the B2B cannabis marketplace, including the internationally recognized family of MJBizCon conferences. She presided over the company’s rapid growth as CEO and transitioned to board chair in 2020. Previously a vice president at Citi, she earned her MBA from the University of Texas, McCombs School of Business.

Chris served as the founding editor of MJBiz Daily during the company’s launch in 2011, becoming the first journalist in the United States to focus exclusively on covering the business of cannabis. He now oversees the company’s day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives. Chris has been quoted as one of America’s foremost cannabis industry analysts by dozens of media outlets, including Harvard Business Review, NPR, CNBC and the New York Times. He earned an MBA in international business from Regis University.

Jess leads the team producing MJBizCon, the multiple-award winning trade show that tens of thousands of cannabis professionals attend each fall in Las Vegas. She is a proud member of the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO) and the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) having earned her Certified in Exhibition Management (CEM) designation. She holds a BA degree from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville.

Pamela has been a B2B communications leader for over 20 years, working in sectors as diverse as clinical medicine and advanced manufacturing. Rooted as a journalist, she led content and strategy for events and media teams at UBM as well as overseeing the company’s internal communications and internal and external re-brand. Folio Magazine named her a “Corporate Visionary” and one of the “Top Women in Media.” She joined MJBizDaily in Fall 2019, overseeing the editorial team and media revenue.
